Our wood canopy beds are four-poster frames made entirely from solid mango wood – posts, canopy rails, headboard and slats – in Queen, King and California King, from $4,320. There are five designs, from the light, low-profile Orvane to the dark Melor with its upholstered headboard. Each stands 82" tall on a slat platform that needs no box spring, and ships free across the contiguous US.

Will a Canopy Bed Fit Your Room?

This is the question we hear most, so here are the numbers.

  • Ceiling height: our canopy beds are 82" tall. With a standard 8 ft (96") ceiling you'll have about 14" of clearance above the canopy rails, which is enough for the bed to feel generous rather than cramped. Higher ceilings make the frame look even more open.
  • Ceiling fans: check that the fan blades sit clear of the top rails before you buy. If your fan hangs low, a flush-mount model or a bed placed away from the fan solves it.
  • Small bedrooms: a canopy bed can work in a smaller room because the open frame defines the space without blocking it. Choose a light finish like the Orvane or Serin, skip heavy curtains and leave about 24" of walkway on each side. See how to arrange furniture in a rectangular bedroom.

Canopy Bed vs Four-Poster Bed

A four-poster bed has a tall post at each corner. A canopy bed adds rails across the top that connect the posts, forming a frame you can leave bare or drape with fabric. Every bed in this collection is both: four solid wood posts joined by a canopy frame. Leave it bare for a clean, architectural look, or hang lightweight linen or sheer panels for a softer one. Keep heavy drapery off the rails.

Why Solid Wood for a Canopy Bed

A tall frame needs a strong one. Many budget canopy beds use thin metal tubing or wood veneer over particleboard, and the extra height makes any looseness more noticeable. Ours are solid mango wood throughout and come with a reinforced center support rail, so the bed stays steady and quiet once it's assembled. Read hardwood vs engineered wood for more on why the material matters.

Wood Canopy Bed FAQs

How tall is a canopy bed?

Ours are 82" (6 ft 10 in) tall. Most canopy beds fall between about 80" and 90", so check your ceiling height before ordering.

What sizes do your wood canopy beds come in?

Queen, King and California King. Need something different? Our customization service can adjust size and finish.

Do you have a light wood canopy bed?

Yes. The Orvane and Serin come in a natural finish. For darker wood, choose the Melor or Somira.

Which canopy beds have an upholstered headboard?

The Melor has an upholstered cream headboard, and the Somira pairs a paneled wood headboard with an upholstered base.

Do canopy beds need a box spring?

No. Each frame has a solid wood slat platform that supports foam, hybrid and most innerspring mattresses directly.

Is a canopy bed hard to assemble?

Parts arrive pre-drilled with labeled hardware and a step-by-step guide. Because of the height, plan on two people. See how to assemble a platform bed.
